Lodged by Alexander Burnett (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party) Standard Motion 27 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends NHS Grampian’s Woodend Hospital for conducting its 100th orthopaedic surgery using a state-of-the-art robot in just three months since it was installed; acknowledges that surgeons at the hospital were the first at a territorial NHS board to undertake a robotic hip replacement and use this technology to perform other orthopaedic operations, such as knee replacements; recognises that the robot allows the surgeons to be more precise, improving patient experience and recovery times; notes that the hospital already has one of the shortest length of stays for patients in the country for knee and hip patients and that it is hoped the new technology will improve this further, understands that the 100th robot-assisted surgery took place at the end of August 2021, and applauds everyone on their continued hard work.
