2021 Foraging Fortnight
The motion
That the Parliament recognises 2021 Foraging Fortnight, which is a celebration of Scotland's natural environment and wild food and runs from 11 to 25 September; notes that it offers a blend of virtual and in-person outdoor events on a variety of subjects, including wild food treks and coastal foraging, workshops on herbal wellness and seminars on food policy; notes that wild foraging can have a positive impact on both physical and mental health by offering an affordable opportunity for people to get fresh air and exercise while engaging with nature to find free and healthy food that enhances overall wellbeing, and commends the organisers for providing foraging guides for children and adults in both English and Gaelic and for highlighting the importance of following responsible guidelines that prioritise safety and sustainability, ensuring that visitors and the community can enjoy Scotland's rural landscape for years to come.
