Aberdeen Bus Routes Set to Power Up

Lodged by Jackie Dunbar (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 17 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the recent announcement from the bus operator, Stagecoach Bluebird, that some Aberdeen bus routes will soon benefit from zero-emission electric vehicles; understands that these will not only reduce CO2 levels in Aberdeen, but will also be low-floor easy-access and will be fitted with Eleather seats, which are made entirely from recycled leather; recognises there has been an investment of £11.2 million in the 22 new electric buses for Aberdeen, which has also received support of £4 million from the Scottish Government Ultra-Low Emission Bus Scheme; understands that the double-deck buses are to be built at the Alexander Dennis factory in Falkirk; recognises what it sees as the benefit of this new fleet and the impact that they will have in Aberdeen, and understands that the buses are due to join the Stagecoach Bluebird fleet in early 2022, alongside its 39 electric-hybrid buses and 59 vehicles of EUROVI standard, which are fully compliant with the latest low emission zone regulations.
