Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Climate Change Declaration
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the publication of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s climate change declaration; understands that, to accompany the declaration, the Society has made a series of proactive commitments to influence change and hold itself accountable; notes that this includes a commitment to work with governments and the health services across England, Scotland, and Wales to deliver on the climate and ecological emergency agenda; acknowledges that the Society is engaging with the whole pharmacy profession to ensure that everyone recognises the need to commit to sustainability; understands that medicines are the most widely deployed healthcare intervention and are responsible for 25% of the NHS’s carbon emissions; believes that pharmacy teams have a clear role to play in combating climate change, and applauds the Society for its commitment to tackling the climate crisis.
