Emmie Mitchell, 10-year-old Fundraiser from Ayr
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the outstanding fundraising efforts of 10-year-old Emmie Mitchell from Ayr, who, since the age of seven, has supported the annual Blythswood Care Shoebox Appeal; understands that the Ayr Grammar pupil has collected 75 boxes over the past three years to give Christmas gifts to vulnerable communities across Eastern Europe; commends Emmie’s efforts to put together charity shoeboxes with essential items and toys despite the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that Emmie designed posters, using her own money, in a bid to encourage others to pledge to the appeal; congratulates the 10-year-old on her efforts to raise funds by starting her own tie-dye shop, and wishes her every success for this year’s collection and for the future.
