A77 Action Group Calls for Immediate Improvements
The motion
That the Parliament understands with concern that the A77 between Ayr and Stranraer has received just 0.5% of the £10.9 billion spent on Scotland’s capital road projects over the last 20 years; believes that the A77 Action Group has expressed its concern regarding dangerous junctions and crumbling surfaces; considers that, without investment, the road will not be fit for purpose; understands that this road causes issues to HGVs travelling to and from the central belt and to the public; considers that more overtaking sections are required to deal with the current congestion; believes that the state of the road, the congestion and heavy vehicles are contributing to crashes and fatalities along the A77; considers that urgent action is needed, and believes that fairer funding is required to fix these issues.
