The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the community of Stow Primary School on its continuing efforts to be more environmentally-friendly by promoting such steps to the wider community to, for example, become plastic-free; recognises that the school’s previous achievements included being named Schools Champion at the 2021 Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Awards, becoming Scottish Champions for the third year in a row in the Better Energy School Awards for Excellence in Environmental Education and previously having become one of The Hunter Foundation’s original #100_Disrupters; understands that the school also has a number of pupil-led enterprises selling bamboo toothbrushes, sustainable Christmas crackers and reusable face coverings, as well as arranging litter picks and creating a recycling centre in the village at which items that might otherwise go to landfill are recycled; notes that this list of achievements and projects is only a part of the efforts that the school community has gone to in order to promote more environmentally-friendly ways of living, and believes that is an excellent example of change that will make a real difference to the planet being led by the young people who will inherit it.
