Lodged by Fiona Hyslop Standard Motion 1 supporter

The motion

That the Parliament recognises Scotland’s first Bereavement Charter for Children and Adults, which was launched on 15 April 2020, after 18 months of development that included consultation and engagement with individuals and groups across Scotland; notes that the charter contains a range of statements designed to help people understand the importance of bereavement support as well as setting out what the provision of such support should look like in Scotland; understands that the authors of the charter hope that it will begin to appear in locations across Scotland and will be used by diverse groups and individuals; notes the view that the charter will help Scotland as a nation to become more effective at supporting people to grieve, and recognises the role that MSPs and leaders of services and organisations can play in promoting the Bereavement Charter in Scotland.
