The People's Project Enjoy Success in Beautiful Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates The People's Project, Dumfries after it won a certificate of recognition in the annual Beautiful Scotland competition; notes the success of the Brighten Up Kirkconnel group, in Dumfries; acknowledges that many community cleaning and greening activities were curtailed during the pandemic; welcomes the enormous contribution made by volunteers and groups to protect and enhance their towns, villages and communities; recognises that 2021 will be a big year for action on climate change and protecting biodiversity; welcomes the role played by the Royal Horticultural Society and Beautiful Scotland, despite the challenging times, to stage this year’s competition; hopes that more communities become involved in brightening up their areas to provide greater stimulus and wellbeing during such difficult times; recognises the importance of enhancing neighbourhoods and reconnecting with the environment, and thanks everyone who is keeping Scotland beautiful.
