Quiet Shopping Hour at Eastgate Shopping Centre

Lodged by Emma Roddick (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 18 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the introduction of a quiet shopping hour at the Eastgate Shopping Centre, in Inverness, to take place on the first Wednesday of every month; notes that the scheme has been introduced following research from the National Autistic Society Scotland, which had found that 64% of autistic people avoid shopping due to sensory issues; acknowledges that quiet shopping schemes are only one of a number of steps that can be taken towards greater inclusion of autistic people in society, and encourages more shopping spaces of every size across the country to follow Eastgate Shopping Centre's example.
