Paul Jelfs from Alva Wins Top Prize in Able Arts Foundation Music Competition

The motion

That the Parliament commends Paul Jelfs from Alva who has recently won a prestigious prize in a global music composition competition; notes that Paul was awarded the top prize in the Able Arts Foundation's (AFF) worldwide music composition contest, which sought to find the best compositions and attracted hundreds of entries from across 29 countries, with his composition, Back To Where It All Began; understands that the Able Arts Foundation (AAF) was created by film composer and SESAC recording artist Stephen Letnes and serves creative disabled people who are on fixed incomes; further understands that Paul has voiced his delight at winning this prestigious prize against so many other composers from around the world, and has explained his passion for composing and his hopes that this award will take him, in his own words, to the next level and onto greater things; notes that in previous years Paul has run successful music tuition businesses in Alloa, has attained a first class business degree with honours at the University of Stirling, and has recently been accepted onto a competitive Masters degree in professional media composition through Thinkspace, a renowned music education establishment run by experienced music composers, on a course limited to 50 applicants, and wishes Paul all the very best for his further continued success.
