The motion

That the Parliament welcomes that the Mull of Galloway has been named as one of the 10 Perfect Dog Friendly Picnic Spots in Scotland, by Scotty Brand and Scotland with the Wee White Dug; notes that the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most Southerly point, is home to the RSPB Mull of Galloway Nature Reserve, where rare species such as black guillemot, kittiwake, peregrine falcon and puffin can be seen; understands that the Mull is managed by the Mull of Galloway Trust, formed in 2012, with the objective of acquiring and preserving the Mull of Galloway, a designated Scottish Site of Scientific Interest; notes that the Trust is also the custodian of the historic Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, built in 1828, and the Foghorn, which was built in 1894 and is the only foghorn of its kind on mainland Scotland, and up until 1994, served as a warning of the ragged land to passing seafaring vessels; thanks the RSPB and Mull of Galloway Trust for their dedicated work in preserving the Mull of Galloway, and encourages all to visit the beautiful, magical site, which, on a clear day, has views of Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the North of England, as well as the natural phenomenon of the Nine Tides when the water hits off the rocky headland of the Mull into a swirling maelstrom.
