CMAL Wins Innovative Port Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates CMAL on being named the UK Port of Tomorrow in the Innovation category at the Shipping Professional Network London Gala, during London International Shipping Week, from 13 to 17 September 2021; notes that the ceremony acknowledged the significant and forward-thinking contributions being made to the shipping industry, and that CMAL, in particular, was recognised for its commitment to environmentally-friendly solutions at its ports; understands that CMAL was nominated in this category due to its successful low emission and hybrid ferry project, as well as the use of solar panels, biomass heating, and ground/air source heating, which have all been integrated into CMAL’s large and small ferry terminal designs and solutions; commends CMAL’s commitment to sustainability as it continues to adopt reduced and zero emission solutions regarding its ferry fleet, and believes that this approach will help Scotland reach its climate targets.
