Billy Herd’s Legacy Continues with Posthumous Local Hero Award
The motion
That the Parliament pays a posthumous tribute to Billy Herd from Prestwick, a local campaigner and charity fundraiser, who passed away at the age of 79 last month; acknowledges that Billy received a Local Hero Award from the Scottish Parliament for his fundraising efforts across Ayrshire over the years, and understands that Billy thought the award was a real honour and was looking forward to the opening of the Scottish Parliament in October; appreciates the lifetime of dedication Billy gave to charity work, including his fundraising efforts for the Ayrshire Hospice, Clic Sargent, the Save Malcolm Sargent House Campaign, and Whiteleys Retreat; celebrates his life and the example he set as community champion, and sends its best wishes and condolences to his family as they persevere through this difficult time.
