Margaret Moncrieff Raises Over £10,000 for the Scottish Huntington’s Association
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Margaret Moncrieff, who is from Houston, on completing her 10th annual Walk of Hope along the banks of the River Clyde at Erskine to raise an accumulative total exceeding £10,000 for the Scottish Huntington’s Association (SHA); understands the issue of Huntington’s disease is important to Margaret due to family members having experienced the rare, hereditary, complex and currently incurable, neurological condition; notes that symptoms typically begin to develop between the ages of 30 and 50 and slowly result in people eventually losing their ability to walk, talk, eat, drink, make decisions or care for themselves; appreciates the SHA is the only charity in Scotland dedicated exclusively to improving the lives of people who are impacted by Huntington’s disease through the provision of specialist services, and wishes Margaret well for her ongoing committed fundraising and efforts to raise vital awareness of the condition by giving talks to community groups.
