Orcadian Musicians Longlisted in Scots Trad Music Awards 2021

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the five acts from Orkney that have been longlisted in the Album of the Year category at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2021; understands that albums, The Light Of The Moon, from Gnoss, a four-piece that includes two Orkney musicians, Aidan Moodie and Graham Rorie, Orkney Monster, from The Chair, an Orkney-based eight-piece with Erik Laughton, Robbie Thomson, Andrew Gifford, Gavin Firth, Bob Gibbon, Kenny Ritch, Douglas Montgomery and Brian Cromarty, and Face to Face, from Twelfth Day, a duo including Orcadian fiddle player Catriona Price, have been shortlisted in the Album of the Year category; further understands that Graham Rosie, from Gnoss, has also been recognised for his solo release, The Orcadians of Hudson Bay, as well as, Where the World is Thin, by singer-songwriter Kris Drever; recognises the breadth of home-grown talent from Orkney and their role in the increasing popularity of folk and traditional music in Scotland, and wishes all acts the very best of success in this year's Scots Trad Music Awards.
