Scotland's UNESCO Trail
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges UNESCO's efforts to create the world's first digital trail of its world heritage sites in Scotland; notes that the trail will include world heritage sites, biospheres, global geoparks and creative cities; further notes that it will allow visitors to experience the history, science, music, design and literature of nature and cities; commends the collaboration between VisitScotland, the Scottish Government, UK National Commission for UNESCO, Historic Environment Scotland, NatureScot, National Trust for Scotland and Scotland's 13 UNESCO sites; appreciates the former Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform's efforts to get sites in Scotland recognised by UNESCO; celebrates the involvement of UNESCO sites in the Highlands and Islands, including Neolithic Orkney, Wester Ross Biosphere, North West Highlands Geopark and Shetland Geopark, and commends UNESCO's aim for the trail to encourage visitors to stay longer in Scotland and travel sustainably.
