The motion

That the Parliament recognises the launch of the Taste of Orkney Food and Drink Trail; understands that the new trail, hosted on the orkney.com website, features 10 of the islands' companies and seeks to offer visitors and locals alike an insight into how high-quality local produce is made; highlights that Orkney Brewery, Swannay Brewery, Highland Park Distillery, Scapa Distillery, Deerness Distillery, Orkney Distilling, J. Gow Rum, Orkney Cheese, Barony Mill and JP Orkney have made it onto the initial trail with the hope that more local businesses will join in the months to come; notes that the new trail has been funded by Scotland Food and Drink's Regional Food Fund, which is aligned to the Food Tourism Scotland Action Plan; acknowledges that the Food and Drink trail sought inspiration from the very successful and popular Creative Trail in Orkney, which links the islands network of local artists and artisans; recognises that Orkney's food and drink sector has built up an exceptional reputation nationally and internationally over the years and is regarded as a lynchpin in the local economy, and commends Orkney Food and Drink on the launch of the project, which will be a significant addition to the vibrant tourism of the islands.
