Plate Up for Glasgow - Tackling Food Waste and Climate Change
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Plate Up For Glasgow on creating a hospitality led environmental campaign scheduled to coincide with COP26; understands that this scheme is being piloted by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce through its Circular Glasgow initiative and is funded by Experience Glasgow Food and Drink Regional Group; notes that the campaign aims to highlight and encourage hospitality businesses to act upon the global issue of food waste and its impact on climate change; welcomes the ultimate aim of inspiring a Glasgow movement against food waste, challenging traditional, and often wasteful, dining out or takeaway business models with the aim of sending as little food waste as possible to landfill; commends Glasgow's business community for embracing the environmental messaging of COP26 of zero-waste, seeking practical ways in which to strengthen the local economy, while also collaborating on how to become more sustainable and profitable; wishes the participating hospitality venues every success, and commends all involved in bringing this project to the public.
