Cycling Dumfries Climate Emergency Cycle to Glasgow

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Cycling Dumfries on organising a cycle from Dumfries to Glasgow to raise awareness of climate change and the valuable role that bikes can play in tackling the global climate emergency; understands that the cycle ride is part of the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice, taking place on 6 November 2021, while COP26 takes place in Glasgow; notes that Cycling Dumfries has chosen to do the 95-mile cycle over two days, via the Mennock Pass on the A76, which includes a 1,500 feet climb; thanks all who are taking part in the cycle ride, as well as its promoters, including Cycle on Parliament, for the work they are undertaking to raise awareness of the importance of bikes, including eBikes, in helping to address the climate emergency, and encourages all to become involved and take action to help tackle the climate emergency, particularly during COP26.
