50th Anniversary of Burra and Trondra Bridges
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the value of Burra and Trondra bridges, which were officially opened 50 years ago, ending the island communities’ reliance on travelling to the Shetland mainland by boat; appreciates what it considers the importance of fixed links to provide a connection between remote communities and to help sustain rural populations; acknowledges the specific challenges in relation to travel in island communities, and congratulates Shetland on this milestone.
