West Dunbartonshire’s Pioneering, Award-winning Heating Network
The motion
That the Parliament commends the use of innovative energy technology in West Dunbartonshire; understands that the new district heating system at Queen’s Quay, in Clydebank, has won the prestigious European Heat Pump Award for Heat Pump City of the Year; further understands that the £20 million technology uses the River Clyde to generate heat and is officially known as the West Dunbartonshire Energy Centre; believes that this project, which is located on the former and historical John Brown shipyards site, is a beacon of possibilities for the regeneration of former industrial sites and green energy alternatives, and acknowledges the project as a leading example in helping to achieve net zero targets and tackle fuel poverty in Scotland's communities.
