Renfrew High School Works Towards a Gold LGBT Charter Award

The motion

That the Parliament commends teacher Nicole Speirs for supporting Renfrew High School to ensure that equality and diversityare at the heart of the school; understands that Nicole has led Renfrew High’sLGBT committee for the last three years, runs its LGBTQ+ club every Fridaylunchtime, enabling pupils to socialise and discuss inclusion and positivechanges they want to see, and started the school’s first annual Pride picnic in2021; further understands that LGBT Youth Scotland has assisted the school in undertakingtraining and reviewing policies, practice and resources to not only meetlegislative needs, but to also be as inclusive as it can be, in creating a culturewhereby LGBT pupils and staff are safe, supported and included, and wishesNicole, staff colleagues and the pupils well in their work over the next yeartowards obtaining a gold LGBT Charter Award.
