Glasgow's West End Festival Celebrates 25th Anniversary, and Thanking Michael Dale

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow’s West End Festival (WEF) on 25 years of success; notes that, in marking this milestone, celebrations are taking place throughout 2021; commends the festival on what it sees as its long-standing, international reach, regularly inviting and attracting artists, performers and visitors from across the globe; notes the wide range of entertainment, educational and cultural activities, which are family friendly and accessible for all ages; praises what it sees as the inclusivity that the WEF has championed, and notes the long-standing Mardi-Gras-style parade that travelled along Glasgow's famous Byres Road; acknowledges the continuing evolution of the WEF, most recently supporting the popular St Andrew's Day Torchlight Parade; offers particular thanks to WEF’s long-standing Director, Michael Dale, for his many years of dedication to the Festival; understands that this is Michael Dale's final WEF; believes that he has been intrinsic to the success and growth of WEF, and looks forward to the people of Glasgow’s West End continuing to celebrate the arts, culture and entertainment in festival formats for many years to come.
