Congratulations to Balbeg Country Holidays

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Balbeg Country Holidays, based in Maybole, on winning the Iver Salvesen Award for Combatting Climate Change at the Helping it Happen Awards ceremony; understands that the business provides self-catering accommodation in five properties, having the ability of sleeping up to 46 guests; further understands that, to tackle climate change, the Balbeg Estate has installed a 27kW hydro scheme that can power 22 homes, installed a 199kW woodchip biomass boiler to provide heat and hot water to seven residential properties on the Estate, and planted new woodland over 128 acres that the Estate predicts will sequester 12,856 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the next 55 years, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
