Well Done to The Inverclyde Shed
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that a UN delegation planted the first fruit trees at The Inverclyde Shed’s orchard, at Muirshiel Lane, in Port Glasgow, on 4 November 2021, in recognition of the Great Green Wall project, which is an African-led initiative to grow an 8,000 km new "World Wonder" across the entire width of Africa, with the aim of tackling climate change, halting desertification, and changing lives; commends The Inverclyde Shed for engaging with COP26 in this way and inviting the delegation to Inverclyde to discuss how grassroots projects can deliver real, long-lasting change when it comes to tackling the climate emergency; understands that The Inverclyde Shed was recently awarded £10,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund to expand its Small Growing Places food project in schools and nurseries across Inverclyde; applauds the objectives of The Inverclyde Shed to reduce waste, maintain repair skills and strengthen social cohesion; believes that local groups such as The Inverclyde Shed play a vital role in facilitating community-led action with regards to addressing the environmental crisis facing the planet, and wishes the organisation all the best as it looks to build upon its existing projects.
