Scotland's First Rural 5G Hub comes to Dumfries
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes that The Crichton, a business and academic campus in Dumfries, will host what is reported to be Scotland’s first rural 5G connectivity hub; understands that this innovative new hub will bring together technological expertise, academic research and local businesses to accelerate the potential of 5G, and to transform communities and economies throughout South Scotland; understands that the S5GConnect Dumfries hub, part of the S5GConnect programme, will be equipped with a dedicated 5G network with advanced capabilities, including a testbed that will enable small and medium-sized enterprises to test products, services and solutions; considers that the choice of Dumfries as the location of the first rural hub reflects the Scottish Government’s longstanding commitment to deliver enhanced connectivity across the South Scotland region; hopes that the S5GConnect programme will be a catalyst that will increase awareness about 5G and lead to the development of new products, services and applications; encourages businesses to connect with the S5GConnect hub, and wishes all involved at The Crichton 5G park success for the future.
