Royal DSM Dalry Announces World-leading Emission Reduction Investment
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Royal DSM Dalry, North Ayrshire, following the announcement that it will be the first global production facility for a ground-breaking £100 million investment, backed by Scottish Enterprise, to reduce methane using a feed additive; is aware that DSM already employs over 300 people at its world-leading Dalry plant for micro-nutrients, including vitamin C; understands that just a quarter of a teaspoon of Bovaer, its safe, revolutionary, new product, will cut methane emissions from dairy cows by over 30%, and 90% from beef cattle, thereby delivering a strong sustainable export product; considers that this is a crucial step in supporting farming communities in their action to tackle climate change and, therefore, an important contributor to carbon reduction; understands that this project will increase employment at DSM Dalry by 10%, or 30 people, as well as ensuring over 100 construction roles over the next two years, boosting the local economy and securing the facility’s long-term future; commends Royal DSM for its dedication to tackling global warming and supporting Scotland’s aim to achieve its climate ambitions, and wishes the facility the best with this exciting project, and in its future endeavours.
