Stirling Community Enterprise, Supporting People Facing Multiple Barriers to Employment
The motion
That the Parliament commends the efforts of Stirling Community Enterprise (SCE) in helping people who are facing multiple barriers to employment to access training, support and job opportunities; understands that, in the last five years, SCE has supported 713 learners, 171 of whom have secured jobs or gone on to further training, education or volunteering, 262 have gained accredited SQA qualifications, 150 have been supported through the Community Justice Partnership Programmes, and 67 supported to remain in education or positively transition from school; notes that 91% of learners who have engaged with SCE report increased confidence and motivation; applauds SCE’s progress on the ongoing refurbishment of a derelict former hospital boiler house on its premises to create a practical skills and wellbeing facility, which has been funded by a £450,000 grant from the Scottish Government Capital Regeneration Fund, and recognises the role of social enterprises in supporting people and communities experiencing the greatest socio-economic inequalities.
