Pollok United Walking Football Team to Play in Age Scotland Charity Event

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Pollok United walking football team, which will be taking part in the upcoming Age Scotland fundraising event, Celebration of Walking Football, which will take place at the national sports performance centre, Oriam, and will aim to champion the benefits and enjoyment of the sport and mark its return since the COVID-19 pandemic; acknowledges there will be two tournaments, one for over 50s and the other for players over 65s; notes that the teams, from across Scotland, will play 16 back-to-back games; acknowledges what it sees as the rising popularity of walking sports in general; believes that they help make sport more enjoyable, sociable and inclusive, and sends its best wishes to the Pollok United players and everyone else who will be taking part in the event.
