The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Healthcare students at Glasgow Clyde College for knitting hats for new-borns at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, using off-cuts of wool and waste textiles that would have otherwise been thrown away; understands that they wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the hospital and also promote sustainable practice as the COP26 events took place around the city; notes that the hats were hand-knitted by staff and students, and their families and friends, and have been donated to the theatre department and neonatal unit; acknowledges that the project allowed the college to provide a valuable resource to the hospital while reducing landfill waste; understands that many hats are needed on a daily basis to help babies maintain their body temperature and that this can be a vital part of the healing and recovery process; acknowledges that this donation has been greatly appreciated by the hospital's staff, and welcomes this fantastic promotion of sustainable practice.
