The motion

That the Parliament commends EBI Unites, which is a collaboration of community organisations and churches working together to deliver services and build the resilience of families in Erskine and the villages of Bishopton and Inchinnan, in Renfrewshire; understands that the contributions of partners Community Action for Erskine, Bishopton Community Development Trust, Inchinnan Community Development Trust, Catholic Erskine, the Church of the Nazarene and Barnhill Farm, along with funding from Bridgewater Housing Association, have helped EBI Unites to make 40,000 deliveries of essential food and household items to local residents since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic; further understands that the large-scale volunteering effort involving more than 60 people has evolved into a Community Pantry and Wellbeing Centre operating in the Church of the Nazarene, Erskine; recognises that by selling healthy, nutritious food from local suppliers at lower costs for customers, the pantry’s sustainability approach is reducing food waste that, otherwise, would have gone to landfill; notes that the service also provides one-off or scheduled food parcels to help tackle food insecurity and offers weekly deliveries of soup, a main meal and a pudding to individuals experiencing social isolation, and wishes EBI Unites well in its future endeavours as it continues to support people throughout the communities of Erskine, Bishopton and Inchinnan.
