Dumfries and Galloway College Triumphs at Green Gown Awards 2021

The motion

That the Parliament warmly congratulates Dumfries and Galloway College on it celebrating a double victory at the prestigious Green Gown Awards 2021, which seek to recognise and reward the inspirational and empowering work done by colleges and universities across the UK in promoting a better and greener future; recognises that the South Scotland-based education institution won both the Campus of the Future as well as Future and Benefitting Society (small institution) categories, acknowledges its success in creating a learning environment that allows people to access green skills and technology in an accessible and forward-thinking way that augurs well in Scotland’s drive to create worthwhile careers in the expanding green jobs sector that will also play a major role in Scotland's ambitions to move towards a net zero carbon emissions country, notes these latest awards represent yet more success for the college at the highest level both at national and international level in its drive towards ensuring that the world of tomorrow is green, clean and full of people trained in important, worthwhile and productive green skills, and praises the enormous work carried out by the Principal, Joanna Campbell, and her staff as well as the enthusiasm of the students.
