The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that Glasgow-based Katrick Technologies has announced that it is developing a dual-purpose wind panel and sound barrier in partnership with AGS Airports Ltd and the University of Strathclyde; notes that the panels will be installed at Glasgow Airport and University of Strathclyde; understands that the wind panel also acts as a sound barrier, while primarily producing carbon-neutral energy from ground and low-level wind; commends the design of these panels, which will allow for energy-harvesting and, in turn, assisting in the challenge of decarbonising carbon-heavy locations such as airports and highways; acknowledges that Katrick Technologies’ wind acquisition systems will allow for initial wind-mapping on the sites, which will initiate a phased development of the wind panels, and congratulates Katrick Technologies and the University of Strathclyde on their recent award of Energy Technology Partnership funding for a collaborative R&D project for the wind panel and noise barrier technology.
