Moray Fresh Start

The motion

That the Parliament commends the efforts of Moray Fresh Start, a charity that offers life-changing support in the Buckie and Elgin area by supporting people, who have been homeless, as they transition into a new tenancy, and helping them settle in a place that can be genuinely called "home"; understands that many new tenancies fail in the early stages where people are without a personal network, such as friends and family, who live in the local area, and cannot afford the essentials that are necessary when moving into a new home; further understands that despite difficulties operating throughout the pandemic, Moray Fresh Start has helped 175 people, including 53 children, in 2021 alone, by supplying a house starter pack, offering support and a friendly ear to many who might otherwise be isolated; acknowledges that Moray Fresh Start also provides signposting to other organisations, creating a wider local network and furthering opportunities for people to help others who live in the local area; applauds the staff and volunteers of Moray Fresh Start for their excellent work in supporting its local community, and wishes them the very best for the future.
