Homecoming for Mary Queen of Scots

The motion

That the Parliament notes calls for the return of the remains of Mary Queen of Scots to the country of her birth; considers that Mary was an iconic historical figure in Scotland; believes that the return of her remains would help educate many people, from the north of Scotland to the south of England, about her significance and about this period in Scotland’s history; understands that Falkland Palace, in which, many contemporary chroniclers believed, the Scots Queen spent her happiest days, was a place of sanctuary for Mary, and notes the view that this Fife palace would be a possible location, where her remains could be interred.
