The motion

That the Parliament commends the Recovery Across Mental Health (RAMH) staff and volunteers, in supporting Renfrewshire residents who have experienced mental health challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the charity, which usually supports around 7,500 people across Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire in their recovery from mental ill health each year, saw an increase of 10% in the number of individuals who have contacted it since March 2020; notes that many of those people seeking help were previously not known to the Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership’s adult community mental health team, and have been experiencing COVID-19 related anxiety, both in terms of the social isolation suffered during times of restrictions, as well as in having concerns relating to the prospects or reality of unemployment and debt issues; encourages anyone in Renfrewshire aged 16 or over who is experiencing a crisis in their mental health to immediately reach out on an anonymous basis to RAMH’s confidential FIRST Crisis service, whose trained staff and volunteers operate out of hours to offer personalised support to people who call freephone 0800 221 8929 between 9am and 8pm Monday to Friday or between 9am and 5pm on Saturday or Sunday, through steps that can help to improve their wellbeing and recovery, and wishes RAMH’s dedicated staff and volunteers well for their future endeavours in providing life-enhancing person-centred support to residents across Renfrewshire who are struggling with their mental health.
