Quarriers Celebrates 150th Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Quarriers, which it considers is one of Scotland’s leading social care charities, on celebrating its 150th anniversary; commends the ongoing work of the organisation in providing specialist support to adults and children affected by physical and learning disabilities, families facing poverty or family breakdown, young people experiencing poor mental health or who are homeless, and carers of all ages; acknowledges what it sees as the charity's unique partnership with the NHS in the work of The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre and in helping to transform the lives of people with epilepsy; notes what it sees as the efforts of the organisation to reconcile with survivors of abuse and the relatives of children who it understands were emigrated to Canada and Australia, and understands that a week of activities in honour of the 150th anniversary will include marking the personal achievements of people the charity supports, as well as volunteers and staff who work for Quarriers.
