The motion

That the Parliament commends The Brave Jnr, a youth eSports group, which uses gaming as a way to help young people feel empowered and build brighter futures, for helping to organise the #GetOnWithIt Cup that resulted in 8,000 trees being planted; notes that, alongside Edinburgh Napier University, the group came up with the idea of the gaming event, which ran during COP26 and challenged players to chop down as many trees as they could during their matches on Fortnite with the promise that the University would plant the equivalent number of trees in real life; acknowledges that more than 200 pupils from North Lanarkshire Schools took part in the tournament, and wishes the group all the best in securing funding for its hub in Wishaw where it hopes to run courses and groups based on eSports while also teaching young people life lessons.
