The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the latest RSPB report, Birds of Conservation Concern 5, has recognised the successful reintroduction of the white-tailed eagle to the West of Scotland; considers that exemplary conservation work has enabled this species to move from the endangered species Red list to the Amber list; notes the report's findings that the song thrush, pied flycatcher, grey wagtail, redwing and black redstart have all been downgraded to Amber, and acknowledges that, while this is good news and indicative of best practice conservation work, the first three species are reported to be close to the Red list threshold; congratulates David Sexton, the RSPB's Mull Officer and his team, for their dedication to the white-tailed eagles in Scotland; acknowledges that, after a long struggle, there are now over 150 pairs; considers that this crucial work would not be possible without supporters and partners from other organisations, and further considers that the amazing conservation work undertaken has demonstrated that it is possible to turn things around if resources and support are available.
