The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the over 1250 students from over 170 schools across Scotland’s 32 local authorities, who are participating in the Young Applicants in Schools Scheme (YASS), which is run by The Open University; notes that YASS is designed to bridge the gap between school and university, college or employment; further notes that it aims to encourage independent learning, build confidence and develop key skills, such as time management and the use of an online study environment; understands that each course offered through YASS is Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) level seven, which is the equivalent to first year University level; further understands that courses last from five to nine months and are clearly structured with timetables and deadlines; believes that studying with The Open University in Scotland gives students the flexibility to decide where and when they study each week, and wishes all participating students the very best for their studies.
