Shetland Tool Library

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the Shetland Tool Library by Shetland Arts, a membership-driven community resource to maximise access to tools and equipment for people across the Isles; understands that the Tool Library will have a wide range of household tools available to borrow on a weekly basis for a small yearly fee, and will be largely dependent on donations from the public and local businesses; further understands that the Tool Library is supported by Zero Waste Scotland and the Edinburgh Tool Library, and takes inspiration from similar successful models across the UK; applauds the aim of the Tool Library to engage the community in the circular economy by encouraging making, mending and creating at home without spending money on new tools; considers that this contributes to reducing waste and promoting sustainability; commends Shetland Arts for its work on the Tool Library, and wishes all involved success with the initiative.
