Urging Defra to Protect Bees and Other Pollinators
The motion
That the Parliament notes reports that Defra is considering approving the use of the Cruiser SB pesticide in late December 2021; understands that this pesticide is considered to be harmful to bees and other pollinators and has been banned by the EU due to the severity of the harm it causes; further understands that the pesticide is also considered especially dangerous to wildlife as it leaches into the soil, where it stays for long periods of time and can be absorbed by other plants, some of which are important to pollinators, and that these plants can then kill the insects that feed on them; believes that approval of this dangerous pesticide contradicts the UK Government's stated aim of arresting species decline in Britain, and calls on Defra to prioritise the health of plants and pollinating insects and uphold the ban on Cruiser SB.
