The motion

That the Parliament congratulates 23-year-old Amy Shearer on being named Young Journalist of the Year at the recent PPA Scotland Awards in Glasgow; notes that Amy is a reporter for the Greenock Telegraph and was chosen ahead of four other leading young writers; understands that the awards recognise, celebrate and elevate the achievements and progress made by teams and individuals across the publishing and media industry, incorporating magazines and newspapers; further understands that an awards spokesperson said that Amy showed clear promise and her willingness to push herself made her a standout winner, going beyond the publication and making full use of social media to promote her stories’ messages; applauds Amy for her commitment to representing Inverclyde and to telling stories from across the community, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and wishes her all the best for the future.
