The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Seonaid Forrester, a biology and science teacher at Renfrew High School, on being highly commended in the practitioner category at Education Scotland’s Learning for Sustainability awards; understands that the awards celebrate the determined efforts by education professionals throughout the year to ensure that every child learns about sustainability, in order to help build a socially-just, sustainable and equitable world; believes that Seonaid’s commendation was in recognition of her work to embed sustainability into the school’s curriculum; appreciates that Seonaid leads a wide variety of learning activities and programmes that are starting to embed a deeper understanding by pupils of the 17 global development goals; notes that there is now a commitment for every lesson in the school to focus on a global development goal, and wishes Renfrew High School learners well in making positive differences towards tackling climate change, poverty, hunger and improving equality within the community.
