NHS Orkney Nurses Awarded Queens Nurse Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Inga MacKay, District Nurse, and Lauren Flett, Midwife and Midwife Sonographer, both from Orkney, on being awarded the The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award for Outstanding Service; understands that the award is given to community nurses who provide exceptional care to their patients and demonstrate a continuing passion and enthusiasm for nursing; recognises that there are already four Queen's Nurses in Orkney, and that Lauren became the first midwife in Orkney to receive the award; notes that Inga and Lauren were part of the Queen’s Nurse development programme, which involves a range of nurses and midwives from across Scotland coming together for a nine-month transformational development journey to becoming Queen’s Nurses; commends Inga and Lauren on what it sees as this well-earned achievement, through a challenging period for the NHS; thanks them for their dedicated service to delivering exceptional care to patients in Orkney, and wishes them both all the very best for the future.
