Congratulations to East Kilbride's Kerry Burke on Advocating on Behalf of Young People with Sight Loss

The motion

That the Parliament commends the East Kilbride teenager and RNIB Scotland Haggeye member, Kerry Burke, for her contribution to the launch of the UN Declaration for Children and Adolescents with Disabilities in the World; notes that Kerry raised pertinent points about the importance of self-advocacy, the value of Qualified Teachers of Children and Young People who are Visually Impaired (QTVI), and accessible extracurricular activities for children and young people with a vision impairment; understands that there is a significant attainment gap between children and young people with a vision impairment and their peers without sight loss that must be addressed; urges everyone to listen to Kerry's points, and encourages Kerry to keep speaking about her experience as a young person with sight loss.
