The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Banffshire and Buchan Coast town of Fraserburgh, also known as The Broch, for being recognised as Scotland's most improved place, having received the prestigious 2021 Scotland Regeneration Forum (SURF) Award for Best Practice in Community Regeneration; understands that the SURF Awards showcase successes in responding to regeneration challenges in communities across the country; notes that some of the projects, which featured as part of the Broch's award application, were the new Faithlie Centre, which was completed in 2020, the creation of a Japanese-themed garden at the birthplace of the late entrepreneur and one of Fraserburgh's most famous sons, Thomas Blake Glover, and the community-led sports and running facility at South Links; believes that, thanks to investment from both public and private sectors, and also to heritage and conservation programmes, Fraserburgh continues to be lifted and renewed; commends all whose hard work, dedication and vision have made this award possible, and thanks all those in the community for doing their part in the revival of this remarkable north east town.
