Motion · S6M-02694 · 23 Dec 2021
Awareness for Alcohol Harm
The motion
That the Parliament notes the reported findings of Drinkaware’s latest annual monitor survey, which tracks alcohol consumption across the UK; understands, with concern, that the annual YouGov survey of over 9,000 adults in the UK, including 1,340 in Scotland, reportedly found that 29% of high-risk drinkers in Scotland were drinking more in May 2021 than before the COVID-19 pandemic; considers that these findings suggest that habits adopted in 2020, when COVID-19 restrictions were most severe, are now ingrained, and urges anyone who thinks that they may be affected by this issue, or knows someone that is, to seek help.
