Gordon Reid Wins Australian Open Wheelchair Tennis Doubles Title
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Helensburgh tennis player, Gordon Reid, and his partner, Alfie Hewett, who won their ninth successive Grand Slam men’s doubles trophy at the Australian Open; commends them on breaking the world record, which was last set in 1985; notes that the British pair has now won three successive Australian Open wheelchair doubles titles and 14 Grand Slams overall; acknowledges that, in September 2021, the pair became the first all-British pairing to complete a calendar doubles Grand Slam when they won the US Open, and praises the players on their historical win.
